As our lives get busier and busier, we crave places of peacefulness to return to. A bathroom can be the perfect place in which to create your own personal retreat.
A new take on the great Australian ‘Outhouse’
Bathrooms have come a long way since the outdoor dunny. These days our bathrooms have become places of peace and sanctuary, somewhere to rest and recover from our busy lives. And, the outdoor bathroom is back in vogue! This time around we’ve upgraded to serene outdoor rooms with living walls of plants, stepping stones that lead to freestanding tubs or showers surrounded by lush greenery and the sky above.

Easy Transformations
You can easily create a sense of zen in your existing bathroom with the addition of eclectic handmade soaps, soft towels and bathmats, or vases filled with scented flowers on the window sill. Moisture-loving pot plants such as maidenhair fern bring a sense of living tranquility and wellbeing. Leave surfaces clear, allowing room for a few beautiful objects and keeping your everyday toiletries inside the cupboard.

The complete change of scene
If you’d like a bigger transformation there’s lots of ways to change your existing space. Do you prefer a tub to soak in or the ease of a walk in shower? Wall surfaces can be finished in a huge variety of ways. If you like a feeling of spaciousness choose whites and creams for your tiles and paint. You can create a sense of warmth by adding towels and accessories with touches of warm colour. Chrome taps and towel rails blend well with cooler colour schemes, and gold brings with it a sense of luxury. In your bathroom you have the opportunity to create a real stay-at-home sanctuary. Find your inspiration and the sky’s the limit!
