Family traditions are one of the many joys Christmas time brings to light. And, who doesn’t love when those traditions include great food that can be shared by all, year after year. Here are some of our favourite ways to create delicious memories with your family this festive season.
Remember to plan together so you can spend more time together!
Enjoying Christmas events and spending time together is ultimately what it’s all about. A little communication and planning now will make for a more relaxing Christmas! Most people love to help out and get involved so sharing the preparation of menu items with your extended family is the perfect way to save time, stress and dollars.

Start a new tradition
If your family don’t have a special recipe or dish that you share at Christmas then why not start the tradition now? It doesn’t have to be complicated, the idea is to create something that has meaning to you and yours. Peeling fresh prawns over a beer or a good bottle of bubbles as a Christmas Eve feast in the backyard or at the beach is a great place to start.

Celebrate cultural heritage
The modern Australian family often shares more than one cultural heritage. Preparing traditional recipes celebrating your background is a lovely tradition to share at your Christmas table. Festive Paella, Turkey Rice Paper Rolls and English Trifle all sound delicious to us!

Kids in the kitchen
Involving children in the preparation of Christmas food is a beautiful way to share and create family traditions (if not a little messy at the same time)! Many kids particularly love to help out making the dessert and you’d be surprised how helpful they can be while shopping if you give them a responsibility, such as ticking off the items on the list. Sharing food prep with the children also teaches kids that Christmas isn’t just about presents! WIN, WIN!
