A new year means new trends emerging! In 2019 it’s all about smart design and making a statement in key areas of the home. We’ve got your summary of the key trends to consider if you’re in the market to buy or sell property in 2019.
Smart Design
Land size and therefore home sizes are shrinking but we are still buying more “things” than ever before. 2019 is the year for smart ideas and clever planning. If you’re renovating make sure you think about storage as a design feature and not just a built-in wardrobe or bookcase! Impress with unusual shapes, clever use of spaces such as underneath stairs or corners whilst keeping in mind the practicalities of how you live within your home.

Bathrooms that make a statement
Gone are the days of white vanities and oval sinks. Custom made, colour and texture is the way to go for 2019. Many people forget the bathroom. It’s not as prominent in the household as a kitchen, as relaxing as a lounge room or as active as an outdoor space, but the bathroom is probably one of the most important areas of any home. Everyone needs to use it after all! Try unusual cabinetry, a different shaped sink or bath, and especially make sure that mirror is “selfie-worthy”.

Living outdoors
Indoor / Outdoor living reaches new heights in 2019. The key trend focuses on adding outdoor spaces that are just as good as the indoors. Think smart and beautiful screening and shelter, cosy fireplaces, luxe lighting and heated flooring. Modern outdoor furniture design has just as many vogue options as their indoor living room counterparts, so you can create a space that literally becomes an additional living area come any season.

Pastels make a comeback
Pastels are back in a big way for 2019. They bring serenity and peace to a space and chic when incorporated well. Although they have been around in bedrooms and loungerooms for a while now, 2019 sees pastels creeping in to the kitchen as well. We’re not saying you have to paint your kitchen walls baby blue or redo your cabinetry with pastel pink or lemon-yellow doors! Why not try a soft grey toaster, dusty rose kettle or even some lavender Salt and Pepper grinders as your statement pieces.
