Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The weather is still warm, but not too hot. The new year has settled into a rhythm and we get to enjoy the launch of all the latest trends in home styling. We’ve collated our favourites below.
Forget the Grey
2018 was the year of grey, in 2019 black is back! In particular Matte black to reduce shine and reflection. Whether you’re replacing light furniture with dark or adding a throw rug to your lounge for cooler Autumn nights, keeping it simple is the key to keeping it on trend and in style. Softer, muted tones added here and there for a bit of spark are the key to this Autumn’s styling success.

Minimalism is always in
There are some key trends coming through this Autumn which are simple to implement and will stop your home from feeling cluttered. Rugs can make a room, however they can also make it look messy without you realising. Ditch the tassels, reduce the patterns and make sure you stay away from that old Persian rug you’ve had lying in your loungeroom for years. Autumn also means new colours and cushions are a great way to warm up your look without too much expense. The secret is cohesion. You don’t have to have all your cushions exactly the same, but sticking to a colour theme or similar pattern will help keep that minimalism effect you are after in 2019

Windows and Walls
Autumn is a great time to settle into the year and really allow yourself to slow down and regroup. And colours can help. Softer tones for walls or window coverings can really help to relax and refocus your mind. Calmer tones, accented with some texture in your furnishings can really work to revamp your room. Whether it’s the use of soft green tones, cool mauves, or by adding some subtle golden highlights, colour can really have an impact and change your mood.

Plants love Autumn too
For all those who love working in the garden, Autumn can be the ideal time to pull out the clippers to ensure plants are ready to blossom in Spring. Pruning encourages new growth and while many plants are dormant in Autumn/Winter, this makes it the ideal time to cut and reshape them without the risk of trimming off new sprouts. And although you might feel your garden looks a little bare, once Spring hits you will love the amazing growth, colour and shapes you have created!
