Lighten Up A Little

Natural light may not be considered a home accessory as such but bear with us. Natural light isn’t just great for taking food pictures of your home cooking masterpieces, it can also aid to boost your mood. It has been suggested than sunlight can actually increase your serotonin levels and since serotonin is the ‘happiness’ hormone, that means you can experience a little mood boost. Play With Colour

We all know that colour has a significant role to play when it comes to our mood. If you’re working from a home office, try to incorporate green colours as this can help boost your productivity. Try some plants (a go-to at the moment for us) or some wall art that will inspire you to work a little harder. Our lounge room is where we spend a lot of time so it’s important to pay attention to this space. Neutral tones for your walls allows you to add colours that you love and also allows you to display those trinkets that remind you of happy times. Sage green accessories are on-trend at the moment, we are loving this colour for scatter cushions or a plush throw rug.

Mix The Old With The New

It’s time to dust off those old relics passed down to you and feature them with your modern design accents. This is a 2020 trend we can get on board with. Vintage will never go out of style but it can be hard to implement a vintage theme with restraint. Start by using accessories you already have, an old coffee table that once lived in your grandparent’s house layered with some amazing new accessories will exude old glamour. If your collection of hand-me-down décor items are a little daggy, scour your local vintage shops to find some hidden gems and support local business at the same time! An amazing corner lamp is a practical and trendy way to mix a little bit of old into your bedroom or lounge room.

Get Luxurious With Linen

Our final and probably favourite trend right now is upgrading bedding linen! We practically spend half our life in bed, so why not invest in being extra comfortable? Investing in good quality linen will last longer than your cheap buys, plus, you will notice the difference and have a better night’s sleep, trust us. To top it off, don’t forget about a new bedspread or duvet cover. Pick something that will fit with the colour scheme you are working with in your room, or be bold and add something colourful, but, make sure that the colours you go with promote tranquillity so you can be in a more peaceful state of mind when you drift off to sleep. Muted tones in blue, pink, lavender and green are all very calming colours.
