Summer Style

Many of us will be spending a bit more time at home this summer than we’re used to, so why not spruce up your home to make it the ultimate summer hangout? From mixed-use spaces, interior gardens, neutral colours and little luxuries, bringing summer style into your home will make you feel like you’re on vacation every time you step foot into your house.

One Space Fits All

Having a room in your home that acts as a hybrid space will benefit you this summer. A place where you can dine, relax and entertain will be a big trend in 2021 and is a fantastic way to spend your summer. Ideally, this space transitions from indoors to outdoors and should definitely include a plush lounge, a dining setting and weather-proof accessories. If your space isn’t close enough to a kitchen, opt for a drinks trolley you can transport all your favourite snacks and beverages on so they’re within reach.

Interior Gardens

An interior garden isn’t as much work (or potentially hazardous) as you think. On the flip side, a single plant living its best life in the corner of your loungeroom simply won’t cut it. If you’re wanting a mini rainforest in your home, the Monstera is a great plant to start with or add to your collection and look they great alongside Elephant Ears. If you have a Californian bungalow style home incorporating a variety of cacti will complete the look. Mix larger species with smaller flowering plants to create that stylish eclectic feel.

Neutral Is Back (did it ever leave?)

Neutral colour tones are an easy way to make your home look effortlessly stylish and will complement your interior garden perfectly. Including natural materials in your colour palette such as timber and cork will help you achieve a balanced look without making your home look stark and white. Rattan furniture has made a comeback and works well in any room (patio chairs or side tables) with affordable pieces making their way into mainstream stores. Big draping curtains in beige will add a touch of drama and white and brown patterned canvas for outdoor spaces will offer a relaxed yet luxurious feel.

Little Luxuries

Splurging a bit of money on your home as opposed to a summer holiday will help you to feel like you’re on a summer vacation. Scent is one thing we always notice when we walk into a hotel so splurging on a new candle is step 1! Scents like rose water, basil, vanilla, coconut and anything with citrus notes will help you slip into relax mode. A breakfast tray is also a fun accessory to incorporate into your summer style – use it to display kitchen essentials or to help you epitomise your vacation vibes by eating your summer fruit platter lounging outside. To finish off your summer styling, invest in some plush new beach towels for ultimate comfort and luxury, there are plenty of brands offering eco-friendly options using upcycled materials too!
