Minimalism Style

Look around your room right now.  Are you drowning in clutter?  Do you have items lying around that you just haven’t bothered to tidy up?  If so, it’s time for you to de-clutter and clear out anything that doesn’t bring you joy.

Below are 4 simple ideas that will change the style and look of your home with ease.

Clear all clutter

Are you surrounded by piles of bills and junk mail, car keys, shoes, empty cups or random objects that somehow made their way onto the kitchen counter but never quite back into their correct storage space? Then it’s time to de-clutter. If you truly want to embrace the look and feel of minimalism in your home flat surfaces need to be cleared.  It’s really that simple.  Think about it – if an item is important it usually has a special place where it belongs.  If your items don’t have such a home to go to, they aren’t truly needed.

Control the colour

The more colours you have in your room, the more cluttered and busy it will look. Keep your room tonal, rather than colourful.  Use a range of colours from the same colour family to help rooms look and feel cohesive. If you love colour add pops of complimentary tones through your accessories.

Use centrepieces wisely

Rather than covering your dining room table with random items, choose your favourite bowl, platter, or vase and fill it with beautiful objects, rather than random “things”. Use the same bowl in different sizes to focus the eye on your feature display, rather than the entire table.

Liven up your room

Removing colour from your rooms can declutter your room instantly, but this doesn’t mean your home has to be bland and boring. Using art to give your rooms personality, or plants to help bring the outside in are both simple and effective ways to style your home whilst keeping it clear, clean and on trend.
